about us, people | By Steve Crowe | Sunday, 1 March 2015

In Sydney Hills Living we hope to capture as many of those influences as we can, and show in print and online the fantastic opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to contribute to the Hills Community.

As we witness the Sydney Hills district forever change its once rural outlook into a modern urban community, it’s worth taking some time to consider what those changes mean to the people who spend their lives here.

It’s a momentous time for the Hills. As public and private transport corridors reach further into the area and provide easier access to all the attractions and facilities we enjoy, many more people are moving in and making their homes here. Many more are travelling here each day to work and do business. Our population grows exponentially, with corresponding impacts on both the human and natural environment.

That inevitably means that the character of the Hills is changing, but not disappearing. Our new residents bring with them cultural, business, domestic and community influences that can only enhance the area and add greater diversity than ever, and with those influences the opportunity for all of us to appreciate the wonderful area we share.

In Sydney Hills Living we hope to capture as many of those influences as we can, and show in print and online the fantastic opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to contribute to the Hills community.

In our first issue we take a look at some of the events in the area, such as the Hills Home Show and Lifestyle Expo, a great opportunity to learn more about our wonderful lifestyle. We also catch up with some of the unique characters who live and work here. These include Swami Sarasvati, who still runs her yoga retreat in Kenthurst, artist Max Mannix, who has created some of Australia’s most recognised characters in ink and oil, and Lynne McGranger, one of Australia’s most recognised television stars.

We’ve also got the local dining scene covered, and suggest a delicious lunch menu to serve your friends as we enjoy the coming of autumn, a particularly pleasant time of the year in the Hills.

So take some time to find out more about your local community in Sydney Hills Living, and please drop us a line to tell us about your experiences here in the Hills. We’d love to hear from you.
